How the David Pahl/Andrew Webb Collaboration Started

We first met while working on Waterpik packaging for Sterling-Rice Group.

After a few rounds of this:

Art Director explains the brief/orders the shots/gets the shots back/makes selects/sends the shots to the retoucher/other shots are requested/repeat,

we realized that it would be much more efficient to get the AD talking to us both at the same time so that we could plan the shots and the retouch together.

So we tried that. It worked great. The AD was happy because he only had to explain the concept once, and he got back finished files much more rapidly than before.

We were happy because we could control the look and feel of the shots so that they ended up being completely convincing.

Along the way, we realized that we get along great and share overlapping and complementary visual aesthetics. We decided to form a partnership.

We both still work on our own, but we get together and collaborate when the project calls for it. Happily, that seems to be more and more often.
